This month, we’re delighted to welcome Nathaniel Rich to talk about the inspiration behind his latest book, Cloudthief, the challenges of switching between fiction and non-fiction writing, and the themes that weave their way through his work.

Nathaniel Rich
Nathaniel Rich is the author of Cloudthief and three previous novels, all New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice selections, including King Zeno, set in New Orleans. He is also the author of two works of nonfiction on environmental themes: Second Nature, which includes the story that serves as the basis for the film Dark Waters; and Losing Earth, which has been published in more than a dozen languages and is currently being adapted into a film by the Oscar-winning director Tom McCarthy.
Rich is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and a frequent contributor to Harper’s and the New York Review of Books. He teaches at Tulane.
