Winner of the 18th Annual NIEA Finalist Award in the Body, Mind, and Spirit category, The Book of Dirt is Tim Time’s award-winning chronicle of a promise kept: digging a grave in the woods behind his house. As the quiet labor unfolds, so do the memories unearthed—swinging from boyhood bravado to the bravery of war, from devastating loss to new love, from shoveling asphalt to digging earth. With gentle philosophy and quiet humor, the book reflects on the human condition in an increasingly tap-and-click world, reminding us that rhythm, sweat, and heartbeat can clear the noise and reconnect us to ourselves long after the shovel is set down.
Tim Time
Tim Time is the pen name of the author. He is a writer, a poet, an asphalt shoveler, a digger, a wall builder and a philosopher. He is as comfortable with a shovel in hand as with a pen, uncovering that which lies beneath the surface. He and his wife and two dogs live in the old house Mr. Brummer built. This too is love. Born and raised upon Dirt, he will return to Dirt when his time comes.
